In the shadow of the Bischofromutze and the Dachstein glacier, the village sits in a dramatic setting of snow-crested mountains and sweeping woodbegirt valleys. Unlike the many mega-resorts in the region, Filzmoos still retains its authentic charm, with traditional folk music being played in local bars and restaurants, while the village is still dominated by old farmhouses and Alpine barns. Unlike the bigger resorts, Filzmoos doesn't have the most raving nightlife, making it great for families with young children and it also has an excellent ski school.
With access to the Amade region - Europe's largest skiing area - you can conquer the 870km of slopes, whether you're a snowboarder or skier. The 14km blue and red runs nearby are perfect for beginners, but for the more experienced the Ski Amade lift pass gives access to the harder slopes. Cross-country skiers will enjoy the Rossbrand High-Altitude Trail, while for the brave there are regular sessions of night-time skiing.
