Brockenhurst is the largest village in the New Forest, but still comes complete with wild-roaming ponies, donkeys, deer and cows, welcoming pubs and restaurants, and the classic, terracotta-coloured New Forest main street. The best places to stay in Brockenhurst are a wide ranging bunch. We've discovered boutique B&Bs, beautiful country house hotels and of course the original Pig!
Brockenhurst is a superb destination for a weekend in the country, or a quick country mini-break. There’s a train line to London (the journey from Waterloo is only an hour and a half), so there’s plenty of time to dash down on a Friday in time for dinner at one of Brockenhurst’s excellent pubs or restaurants.
In addition to the lush surrounds of the New Forest, Brockenhurst is close to Beaulieu and the National Motor Museum; to Lymington, which is one of the ferry ports for the Isle of Wight; and to the fantastic naval museums of Portsmouth.
Just don't forget that the New Forest is an exceptionally popular destination. If you want to guarantee a room in one of the best places to stay in Brockenhurst either in the peak summer months or school holidays, you'll need to do your research and book well ahead.
