Abergavenny, the area’s best-known market town, is a foodie favourite. Stay nearby or visit for the day to marvel at the markets (held on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays) and to savour delectable dishes in the town’s laid-back pubs and restaurants. Time your trip for the annual autumn food festival for the ultimate experience! Abergavenny also boasts the excellent Abergavenny Museum, in a Norman hilltop castle — well worth visiting, along with the museums at Chepstow and Monmouth.
