Yorktown’s biggest claim to fame is as the site of the final battle of the American Revolution in 1781. Delve into the lives of citizens and soldiers at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, discover the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Centre and tour important sites and monuments as you build a picture of 18th-century Yorktown. Moore House, Nelson House and the Yorktown Victory Monument are particular highlights. You can venture further back in time at the York County Historical Museum, too, or take a guided walk — and an eerie evening ghost tour — of the historic district!
Yorktown Beach is great for swimming, fishing and boat trips with little ones, whilst Riverwalk Landing is the place to go for shopping or kicking back in bustling eateries within sight of the York River.
