The Portes du Soleil is a vast ski region, with 13 resorts, around 200 lifts, and 650kms worth of marked pistes, spreading between the chocolate box perfection of mountain villages scattered around the French/Swiss border. There’s actually a circular route you can ski though the region, which takes you into many of the main resorts, including Chatel, Morgins, Champoussin, Les Crosets, Champery, Morzine and Avoriaz, and we suggested our Gurus start there…Our pick of the best hotels in the Portes du Soleil is wide ranging, from glamping pods, to luxury chalets and party pads that are ideal for apres-ski lovers. This region is spectacular in the summer too, and all of the hotels on our list are open in both seasons.
Morzine
This traditional alpine chalet offers guests comfortable spacious guest rooms with stunning views and modern amenities. A cozy bar with fireplace, all year outdoor swimming pool and excellent skiing/hiking on the doorstep. Family friendly lodge with loads to explore winter or summer.

A spectacular hotel made up of individual pods anchored onto the side of the mountain. The stylish pods are cosy and comfortable with surrounding wooden platforms that boast phenomenal mountain vistas. A central chalet houses a spa, restaurant and bar. Truly a unique skiing holiday experience.

Simple charm at this chalet B&B. Guest rooms with panelled pine walls have great views, some from private balconies. There is a steam room, sauna and hot tub for an après-ski wind down. Walking distance from Morgins restaurants and bars, and most importantly, the ski lift.
