The Best Hotels Near the Grand Canyon, USA
It doesn’t matter how many photos you’ve seen of it, or how many documentaries you’ve watched, you’ll still be surprised at the sight of it. It’s just so big. And the light and colours are just so dramatic. And it’s just so unlike anywhere else you might ever have seen, even if you’ve seen some impressive and exotic landscapes. Point being you’ll want to spend more than a couple of hours exploring and just letting it all sink in. So you’ll want to find one of the best hotels near the Grand Canyon to help you prolong your wonder.
The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is by far the most popular part of the park to visit, with around 90% of visitors only exploring the South Rim. Here the access to viewpoints is easy, and there are some Native American ruins and historic buildings, plus the infrastructure is excellent.
The North Rim is more remote and it’s at a higher elevation so it’s cooler and there are meadows rather than just desert. If you’re looking for the famous Skywalk then it’s the West Rim you should be heading for, which is part of the Hualapai Nation. It would mean hundreds of miles of driving to see all of these, but if you’re staying in one of the best hotels near the Grand Canyon then you might have the time to do it.
Our Guru’s recommendations for the best hotels near the Grand Canyon includes Phantom Ranch which offers the only accommodation within the park, but it also includes some great suggestions on the rim and in Grand Canyon Village.
The Best Hotels in Grand Canyon Village
Grand Canyon Village is just a few miles north of the South Entrance to the park. Here you’ll find a number of restaurants and cafes, a grocery store, bank and shower and laundry facilities for campers.
If you’re looking for the best hotels near the Grand Canyon but you’re on a budget then the cosy, rustic cabins and rooms of the Bright Angel Lodge and Cabins are a great option. You’re right on the rim of the canyon so the views are incredible and there are great activities running in and out of the lodge. This is also one of the best hotels near the Grand Canyon for families, what with the private sitting rooms in the cabins. There’s also family dining and plenty of opportunity to relax with scenic sundowners.
The El Tovar Hotel is another good option in Grand Canyon Village. It’s a historic landmark, also perched right on the rim - and some of the rooms have views looking right into the canyon. There are 78 spacious, comfortable rooms and a restaurant with a view.
