10 Best Romantic Hotels in Seattle
Most cities have a few perfect strings to their bows, but out Gurus think Seattle has the full complement. First off there's the views — over water and mountains — then there's the hiking and sailing opportunities, Pike Place Market, the food and drink scene, and the fantastic live music venues, the incredible space needle and the art collections. For this reason Seattle is a great pick for a romantic assignation: there really is something to please everyone. Among our questions for the Gurus was “Which are the best hotels in Seattle for couples?”, and this list, of the best romantic hotels in Seattle, is what they agreed upon. We hope you agree too, whether you're looking for a room with a view or a chic urban base where partying is the name of the game.
For the View
- The Edgewater is incredibly positioned on Pier 67 of Seattle’s Waterfront, so the rooms on one side of the hotel have balconies directly over the water. The rooms on the other side of the hotel look out on the city, so they’re quite special too. Our favourite rooms have four-poster beds, fireplaces and water views, but the restaurant is almost as romantic, as the sunsets are spectacular. Unforgettable.
For a Special Occasion
- Close to Puget Sound, on the waterfront, the Thompson Seattle has incredible views through floor-to-ceiling windows, and a slight nautical nod to the decor. We love the rooftop cocktail bar, suites many of us would love to move into permanently, and elegant furnishings.
For a City Break
- The Hotel Theodore is a stylish, intimate, downtown hotel, with a beautiful, but unfussy restaurant known for its locally sourced cuisine. Its 153 rooms and suites are unfussy too, but the attention to detail means everything fits together perfectly, from the handmade furniture to the locally made beauty products.
- Just moments from the waterfront, and with incredible bay views, the Hotel 1000 is our city break pick because of its sleek, up-to-the-minute design, with huge windows and lots of public spaces. We also highly rate the spa, and the seafood and oyster bar.
For Cool Kids
- The Kimpton Palladian Hotel has grand dame heritage, but with a trendy makeover. Its Belltown location has influenced the decor, which is striking and cool, with a rock’n’roll edge. There are 97 rooms and suites — the suites are really big! — with traditional portraits of contemporary muses, and the occasional black wall. The bar and restaurant are seriously hip too, and popular with the cool local crowds.
For Luxury Lovers
- The Four Seasons Seattle has a fantastic position, downtown, so that its rooftop pool, restaurants, and some of the large, airy rooms, have water views. There are 147 rooms and suites, and even the simplest allow access to all the luxurious facilities associated with the Four Seasons name — in this case including an incredible spa and fitness centre, the incredible rooftop pool, and lively bar and restaurant.
- For classical luxury opt for the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, a grand, Seattle icon in a fantastically central spot. Everything about this hotel is beautiful, from the dove grey exterior which looks peaceful and solid, to the grand public areas, and the understatedly luxurious rooms and suites — 450 of them. Even the pool is gorgeous. As is the spa, and all of the places to eat and drink.
For a romantic Bolthole
- The Hotel Ballard is a luxurious feeling, bolthole hotel in Ballard Docks — an up-and-coming part of the city. With decor that feels elegantly European — think fireplaces, warm neutrals, wallpaper and slipper baths — these 29 rooms and suites are classically romantic. The restaurant is Italian, popular with locals, and known for its cocktails, and there’s a roof terrace with views of the mountains.
For Great Value
- The Hotel Sorrento is an historic hotel, but beautifully kept and gently updated, so that it still feels super stylish, as well as luxurious. Behind the elegant facade there are 75 rooms and suites, in an excellent range of shapes and sizes, but all with white Venetian marble bathrooms. There’s also a patio garden, and a bar and lounge that feel intimate and timeless.
