Passed down through the generations, this handsome building with an imposing façade, medieval and Arabic origins and majestic past, has been in the same Menorcan family for over 400 years. In 1998 the property opened its doors as a quiet rural hotel. All the old stately rooms, cowsheds, stables, laundry rooms and original dairy were converted into lofty, spacious guest rooms with comfortably wide and generous beds, big wardrobes, contemporary bathrooms and most with private patios. Wholesome Mediterranean food is served in the old railway carriage under a vaulted ceiling or the Jardi dels Ullastres garden where guests can dine sheltered by the wild olive trees. Buffet breakfast is served inside and out on the terrace. There’s an enjoyable 45-minute walk to the beach and bikes are available to rent which is a great way of exploring the environs as the island is fairly level compared to its more mountainous sibling Mallorca.
