Hotel Review
If you like small, cosy boutique hotels with plenty of local flavour, then look no further than Barcelona’s new Antiga Casa Buenavista. The building, once home to the lively “Buenavista” restaurant that used to show patrons a rollicking good time back in the roaring twenties, has been meticulously renovated to maintain its original designfeatures, but combined with all the mod cons the contemporary traveller needs. The restaurant is back, serving classic Catalan grandma recipes, and these days there are two penthouse suites and a dreamy pool on the rooftop. The neighbourhood, which some might describe as sketchy (keep an eye on your valuables at night!), is brimming with late-night bars and trendy restaurants. With only 43 rooms, staff make guests feel personally welcome from the second they arrive.

What is there to do in the area? The Hotel Antiga Casa Buenavista is in the heart of Barcelona, between two of the most popular neighbourhoods, Raval and Eixample. Thanks to its privileged location you will be close to the main tourist spots of the city. In fact, just a few minutes’ walk away, you can find the famous Plaza Cataluña, the modernist route of Paseo de Gracia or Las Ramblas de Barcelona. In addition, the hotel has excellent connections with the airport, bus stations or other railway lines that will facilitate logistics in and out of the city.
In addition to the main attractions, the hotel is also close to other points of commercial and cultural interest like for instance:
- SANT ANTONI MARKET: It is bigger than the Boquería Market and is located 5 min from the hotel. Do not miss this 19th century building with iron structure that was rehabilitated for the last time in 2018. It is the only market with commercial offer the 7 days of the week and it’s a meeting point between local vendors and people from the neighbourhood who still today they give it life and dynamism
- CCB & MACBA: 5 min from the hotel you can visit the Culture Centre Contemporary of Barcelona (CCCB), a distant avant-garde building that was born from the old House of Charity and won the FAD design award after his conversion. Also, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA), a work by Richard Meier, which has become a neighbourhood symbol.
- HOSPITAL DE LA SANTA CREU: The Raval originated in the century XIV around convents and crops. During its first period of urbanization hosted numerous hospitals and orphanages. Also, from this first period still preserved the Old Hospital de la Santa Creu, which was the City General Hospital since the 15th century and it finally became the library of Catalonia.
