Hotel review

Nothing could be more pleasant than breakfasting on a sunny morning on Arcé’s dining terrace, which juts out over the river and is sheltered by a canopy of chestnut trees. Inside, the public rooms are spacious and include a smart dining room with picture windows and a beamed library. A sizeable swimming pool is hidden in a green enclosure on the far side of a wooden bridge across the river. Some of the bedrooms are impressively large; others have small terraces with mountain views. Five generations of Arcé family have run this carefully updated hotel; long may it continue.
