“This centrally located hotel, in a collection of four townhouses, is comfortably traditional with high-ceilinged rooms, a welcoming lounge and attractive restaurant. Stepping distance from sights and shops, and good value, too.”

Hotel review

Halfway between the River Liffey and St Stephen's Green, and stepping distance from a brace of national museums, Buswells is in a smart location. Indeed, it's in a smart street of Georgian townhouses now the refined offices of upmarket solicitors and estate agents. Itself a collection of four townhouses, it has a traditional feel but done with a light touch - polished wood floors, classic-patterned wallpapers, swagged curtains and soft colours of silver, lilac and pale lemon. Grand mirrors, large potted plants and chandeliers add a touch of elegance. Bedrooms, spread over a warren of landings and staircases, are light and uncluttered in contemporary shades of grey with shots of lime in cushions and throws. Furniture is fuss-free and practical while bathrooms are bright and modern, if small. Choose first- or second-floor rooms for grand, high ceilings; rear rooms for less noise, but no views. Evening meals are robust pub classics while the breakfast 'full Irish' will set you up for the whole day.
