An oasis of remarkable peace and calm near Santo Domingo Square and the buzzing heart of the city of Cartagena. The multi award winning hotel was built for the Count of Pestagua in the 18th Century. Sometimes known as the most beautiful house in Cartagena, the impressive colonial architecture never disappoints. With fantastic views over the walled city and as far as the Café del Mar, a lovely relaxing atmosphere and a great spa, a stay here is always going to be memorable. There are three levels of room laid out in several different configurations, some with loft spaces for children’s sleeping areas. All are huge with L’Occitane toiletries in the correspondingly generously proportioned bathrooms. Attention to detail is good – and personal, with specially chosen music playing in your room on arrival. Even those who usually shun the hot tub may be tempted to take to the bubbly water here for the amazing view across the city from the tub. Food in the pretty indoor and outdoor dining areas is a combination of international and Colombian dishes. Not surprisingly this romantic hotel is popular for weddings.
