Clad in red cedarwood, Casteldelmar stretches innocuously along the shoreline and is wrapped in beautiful wooded gardens, where even in high season, it’s easy to be quiet and alone. There’s a small private beach and a dock for boats, including one to take guests to the hotel’s sister property across the bay, La Plage Casadelmar where a beautiful beach and watersports await guests whenever they wish to go. Inside the hotel, expect slick, sleek contemporary design, walls of glass and lashings of natural light. Both the upper floor gym and beauty salon enjoy breathtaking views while the Espa spa is contrastingly dark, moody and opulent. The comfortable and refreshingly unstuffy main restaurant is home to Fabio Bragagnolo’s wonderful Coriscan-inspired dishes, inventive and surprising yet always generous and satisfying. The fairly plain bedrooms are enhanced by huge black and white scenes of traditional Corsican life, with excellent bathrooms and huge terraces.

Everything centres on the sea views, from the hillside infinity pool, terraced Italiante gardens or sea-facing rooms. Inside the modern timberclad and glass building, the personality of each room is bolstered by a unique colour scheme, whether it's cherry red armchairs or grape purple rugs.
