citizenM Rotterdam bears all the hallmarks of this luxe for less brand, from its black and red citizenM branded everything to its lively hip common areas and its compact rooms accessorised with the usual high tech gadgetry - all controlled by your inroom ipad (don't forget to charge it!). The rooms have the feel of a ship's cabin - large beds stretch the length of the window and the room contains a capsule bathroom with frosted glass for privacy. They may be small, but even with two (tidy) occupants they work well. Location wise, you can't get much better. It's very close to one of the main railway stations (there are regular trains to Amsterdam for a great day out) and right beside Rotterdam's iconic yellow block houses and the famous Market Hall. The Dutch do 'small and modern' incomparably well and CITIZEN M is a perfect example of clever design. It's easy to sum up in four words - fun, colourful, modern, busy.
