Hotel Review
Located in the quieter, historic area of the medina, Kâat Benahid, this riad provides an authentic stay in Marrakech. Whilst it is unmistakably Arab-Andalucian in style - mosaic tiles, decorative archways combined with terracotta tiles - the Belgian architect has injected sympathetic modern touches which blend perfectly with its traditional style. Avoiding over the top decor, each of the property's individually decorated rooms focusses on hand picked statement art pieces and antiques. Intricate fretwork lanterns, ornate carved tables and wall hangings are juxtaposed with white hand woven linens and simple yet soft throws. The bathrooms are a similar affair where Moroccan decor meets modern amenities. With just six rooms, privacy is key here. There is also a two bedroomed 'douiria', with its own roof terrace, ideal for families. In keeping with the East meets West trend, Rachidia, the riad's Cordon Bleu trained chef, cooks up a feast of both Morroccan and European dishes. Spend an afternoon cooling off in the plunge pool, indulging at the riad's small but perfectly formed hammam or sipping a cup of mint tea on the roof terrace with the city's skyline in full view and the Atlas mountains as backdrop.
