When visiting ancient Delphi, avoid the over-priced, drab hotels in the modern town and head for this charming old harbour half an hour away. There’s a small beach for a pre-dinner dip, a bevy of good fish restaurants, and several attractive small hotels. The best is this old sea-captain’s house, with whitewashed walls, blue woodwork and terrific views over the misty Gulf. The rooms are simple and elegant, with wooden floors, colourful tiles and platform beds. Breakfast, drinks and snacks are served on a sunny terrace overlooking the harbour.
