“A historic gem on the Ligurian coast. This hotel boasts classic Italian decor with elegant touches. Enjoy the sea-view pool, exquisite dining options, and luxurious spa. For travellers looking for a family feeling to go with their luxury, the Miramare offers a twist of cosiness and glamour”

Hotel review

In a land that is both warm and welcoming, the Grand Hotel Miramare stands out as an exemplary example of both. There are almost too many opportunities to relax to take advantage of them over one visit: two lounge bars, each with a piano, a seawater pool, Santa’s largest private beachfront, and an expanse of green leading up the slope of Mount Portofino. Full of palms, olives, maritime pines and Lebanon cedars, the back garden has a cottage, a “sentimental walk,” and a vegetable plot that supplies the restaurant.

The rooms are sumptuous, looking out over either the garden or the sea (or, in the case of some floor-spanning suites, a view of both). A renovation in 2017 lightened the atmosphere, and incorporated elements of the surrounds into the rooms—the antique furnishings, parquet floors, and crystal chandeliers, reflect the sea, forests, and opulence of the coastline. The rooms are cool and breezy, the perfect place to decamp after lounging in the Ligurian heat.

In the morning, an excellent breakfast is prepared in the Vistamare restaurant—Italian pastries, mimosas, and eggs from eight varieties of chicken, each a different hue, from regular white and brown, to surprising shades of red and blue. At supper, the Vistamare becomes one of the best places to dine on the coast, the large terrace splayed out under the stars, with a variety of local and international cuisine available to pair with a large selection of specially selected wine.
