Hotel Review
An oasis of calm luxury on the ancient Singel, the Estheréa traces its history back three generations to the 1940s when widow Maria Flieger-Gruyters opened a guesthouse, naming it in honour of her three daughters, Esther, Elly and Ria. The hotel has expanded from those early days (12 rooms have become 70, now spread through four canal houses), but remarkably the service is no less personal.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Our guests choose the Hotel Estherea because we are located in a row of 17th century buildings on the Singel which is one of the Amsterdam's oldest canals and part of the ring of canals added to the official UNESCO World Heritage list in 2010. All the tourists highlights are very close to us such as Dam square, the central railway station, the main shopping area, museums, theatres and night life; all are within a few minutes walking distance. Inside our hotel, the rich, colourful interior includes woollen carpets, crystal chandeliers, mahogany panelling, luxurious fabrics, extravagant wallpapers, flowers, plants and fish tanks. All this gives our guests a feeling like they are home away from home. What is there to do in the area or on site? As we are located in the city centre everything is so close, this includes all major museums, galleries, shops, restaurants etc. Very often guests come back to our hotel during the day for a quick break, help themselves to a warm drink and cookie which are free or maybe purchase drinks at the bar and sit in our beautiful lobby overlooking the canal. They are also able to use free hotel iPad’s, read some books in our library, work out in our gym or just relax before leaving for their next adventure. What kind of breakfast do you offer? Every morning between 7:00 and 11:00, we have a buffet in the breakfast room with different kinds of bread, Dutch and foreign cheese, cold cuts, boiled, baked and scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, tosti's , jams, cereals (muesli and corn flakes), yoghurt, milk fresh fruit salad, fresh seasonal fruits, smoothies and juices. From now on we also serve free glass of prosecco and delicious waffles too. If you have specific dietary needs (vegan, gluten free etc.) please let us know in advance. We also serve breakfast in your room between 8:00 and 11:00, Menu a la Carte, which you can find in the room. If breakfast is included in your reservation that is then only for the breakfast buffet in our restaurant – not room service. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We only serve breakfast at our hotel but we do have room service. Room service is available between 7:00 and 23:00. There is a complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate buffet downstairs. You will find our room service menu on the table in the box. Lunch (sandwiches) from Broodje Bert, 12:00 - 17:00 Dinner (warm meals) from Haesje Claes, 18:00 - 22:00 Furthermore you can find a list of recommended restaurants in the room, ordered by the type of food they serve and the price range they charge. The reception will be happy to assist you in making a choice and making the reservation. Which are your most popular room types, and why? As we are housed in historical buildings size of our rooms may vary. We offer 91 luxuriously decorated rooms and 2 spacious, colourful suites. All of these rooms are accessible by elevator and are non-smoking. Our most popular rooms are deluxe room overlooking the canal and deluxe rooms with Jacuzzi. Deluxe rooms overlooking the canal because of the view on the canal spread through three windows and deluxe rooms with Jacuzzi because of the facilities. These are located in the new part of the hotel but both beautifully decorated and breath taking. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? By choosing the Hotel Estherea, you will experience Amsterdam in its best, with a beautiful setting in the city centre with loads of history and character.

Hotel Estheréa
Hotel Estheréa has an eccentric charm, created by décor that manages to be at once zany, plush, and warmly welcoming. Though large, it offers all the engaging hospitality of an old-fashioned, family-run hotel. The rooms are deliciously over-the-top, and the breakfast ranks with the best in town.
