Fidanka’s small collection of rooms and suites stands above a garden courtyard bursting with greenery, colourful flowering shrubs and pot plants, around an infinity pool with a fabulous panorama across the water. There are even better views from the upper Terrace Timber suites, all built from reclaimed antique wood. Each has a double bedroom and smaller seating area, and in the deluxe ones, you don’t even need to get out of your extra-king-size bed to enjoy the view. Garden and middle floor suites are slightly larger, each with a sofa bed in a fair-sized living room; garden suites open on to the pool terrace. There’s an à la carte restaurant with regular poolside barbecues, lavish buffet breakfasts of organic local yoghurt, honey, fruit, olives and freshly baked bread. Kalkan’s ‘beach’ (a seaside lido with loungers and umbrellas) is only 200 metres away. Watersports, including yacht cruises and water-skiing, can be arranged.

"Timber-built rooms, created from reclaimed, century-old cedar trees, are decked out with vibrant Turkish kilims and fabrics."
