Hotel review

A Verbier institution in the hub of the resort on the Place Centrale. Three generations of the warm-hearted Bircher family have run this modest, unfussy hotel for over forty years. Locked in 70s retro mode, guests like the fact that nothing ever changes. Cosy and welcoming, books on the shelves, a fire in winter, seven different homemade jams for breakfast made by Carole Bircher. Favourite guests get given a jar when they leave. Décor is basic, triples and family rooms are good value for Verbier. The quieter rooms at the back have views of Savoleyres.
