This remarkable hotel beckons the coming of a whole new era for Santiago. Though it has had many a refurb since its former life as Chile's tallest building, the prevalence of original features such as the marble and wrought iron staircase, convey a strong sense of the history attached to the building. The chic bar downstairs would be a draw in its own right, but it must contend with rooftop cocktails overlooking the city and the magnificent park just opposite. The suites are charming, we loved the warm wood parquet floors and deep freestanding bathtub in ours. This is a destination in itself, and it just happens to sit in the most up and coming bohemian district if Santiago.

"Now it is home to 38 elegant rooms topped by a quirky roof terrace and bar serving up park views and heady pisco sours."
