“With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Victoria Harbour, the Kowloon skyline, and the city’s many skyscrapers, the Island Shangri La is a luxurious bubble that serves up Hong Kong ritziness in droves. Featuring fabulous restaurants and a prime central location, this is a perfect city spot.”

Hotel review

Frequent visitors to the vertical city will tell you that you haven’t done Hong Kong properly if you haven’t slept in a skyscraper, and at 56 storeys high, the Island Shangri La is one of the city’s tallest – thus offering the opportunity of a particularly giddy night’s sleep. There’s also those extraordinary views across Victoria Harbour and beyond, which can be fully enjoyed – weather permitting – thanks to the rooms’ enormous windows. Extremities don’t stop there, with old-world wonders on view in the lobby that include a 167-foot-high silk painting entitled ‘The Great Motherland of China’ and a 140-year-old Banyan tree, as well as 900 works of art on display throughout the hotel. With luxurious rooms decked out in Chinese lacquer, marble bathtubs, and sumptuous fabrics – and first-class service to match – the Island Shangri La exemplifies the extravagant razzle-dazzle that Hong Kong is well-known for.
