Keos Katoikies appeals to grown-up couples, with a purpose-built collection of rooms in traditional island style. The buildings are low-rise and made of mellow local stone, perched on a headland that looks across the bay to the village. Within, rooms are decorated in neutral greys, cream and beige tones, with spotless white linens. All are twin or double, and each has its own balcony or terrace. 'Garden view' rooms look inland over terraced hills and olive groves, but it's worth paying a little extra for a sea-view room. Breakfast – a quite lavish buffet of island delights including yoghurt, Kea's famous honey, sweet and savoury pastries, olives, fruit, cheese and freshly squeezed juices – is served on the breezy Keos Café terrace until 11am, and for night owls the café stays open until midnight, and on summer nights is one of Korissia's social hubs. Beaches (with bars, loungers and sun umbrellas) at Ammos, 100 metres from the front door, and Gialiskari, 500 metres away, make up for the absence of a pool. Korassia's quayside cafés, restaurants and shops are around a ten-minute walk.
