Where rustic warmth meets sleek contemporary design, this renovated family-run country house perched on top of a hill is charming in its traditional simplicity. With a lush, well-maintained vegetable and flower garden that overlooks the Pyrenees, guests can expect to find a home-from-home or indeed, a tranquil retreat from the humdrum of day-to-day life. Facing the pool in the far distance is the Pic du Midi mountain and its observatory on the summit. Ideal for writers, rooms come with a large desk and fireplace, for the colder months of the year, and the walls are lined with contemporary artworks. The area is popular with golfers and in the near area, boasts at least 4 golf courses, including the Gascogne Golf Course and the Chaetau de Pallanne. In keeping with its familial feel, cots are freely available and children under 2 can stay free-of-charge. It's a short drive away from Mielan where there are a number of shops and restaurants, including La P'tite Marmite Gasconne, well-frequented by locals, who serve a mix of traditional French and international cuisine, (I recommend that you try the duck leg and chocolate fondant).
