After the success of their B&B which goes by the same name, friendly Mark and Claire Smith set up Number One South Beach, a five-star boutique hotel in Blackpool. The bedrooms – of which there are 14 and one suite – look out onto the beach and many have balconies. All have Egyptian cotton bedding, Siberian goose down pillows, whirlpool baths and are kitted out with all mod cons. The rooms are decorated very differently and named accordingly, from the turquoise hues of ‘Hip Hop’ to the pink stripes of the bedroom ‘Noodle’. The restaurant fits the bill for many an occasion, whether you’re after a simple breakfast or a sumptuous three-course dinner.
