“This peaceful riverside hotel in Maidenhead offers the chance to disconnect from the chaos of everyday life, whilst situated just a short hop from London. Take part in retreats and workshops or use the hotel as a base for a gastronomic break, visiting some of the renowned restaurants in the area”

Hotel review

This riverside retreat is perfect for those seeking to escape the rat race for a few nights, and experience life at a slower pace. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, the bedrooms vary both in size and décor, from the English Garden Room with its beautiful floral wallpapers, fireplace and free standing bath tub to the minimalist white rooms upstairs. The latter of which align more closely with the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which celebrates the beauty of natural imperfections and transience. While there’s no restaurant at the hotel (try local pubs such as The Boathouse at Boulters Lock or fine-dining options in nearby Bray), guests are treated to a continental breakfast with fresh fruits, croissants and cereals. Candles and relaxing music create a soothing atmosphere in the communal living room where guests can sit and peruse books about yoga, the arts and philosophy. The new owner runs meditation and breath-work sessions, alongside other workshops including Wimhoff dips, sleep coaching and sound baths. Screen-free throughout, don’t expect all the mod cons and service that come with larger hotels, but do expect total relaxation, comfort and the chance to switch off.
