Families have flocked to Cornwall's north coast for their bucket-and-spade holidays for generations, but hotels that are both stylish and child-friendly were thin on the ground until the emergence of St Enodoc, a solid and dependable edifice with clean lines and easy-going comfort inside, and bedrooms that are like bedrooms rather than hotel rooms. Relaxed restaurant with a wide terrace for outdoor dining overlooking the Camel estuary, offering delicious fresh local food. Fabulous.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? As the hotel is privately owned and boutique in size, this exquisite hideaway is one of Cornwall’s best kept secrets. One of the main reasons our guests come back to the St Enodoc hotel year on year, is the top-quality service and relaxing atmosphere. All of our guests are treated as unique individuals with tailored recommendations and personalised experiences throughout their stay. Some of the region’s top beaches are a stone's throw from the Hotel as is the passenger ferry to Padstow. Guests can explore the rugged Cornish coastline, sample a variety of water sports in the protected estuary and enjoy some of the finest restaurants in the South West of England. What is there to do in the area? The Atlantic coast of North Cornwall stretches for over forty miles from Bude to Perranporth along a wildly beautiful landscape where towns and villages huddle in the cliffs for protection against the sea. A renowned hub for thrill seekers who get active in and out of the water, the mile-wide bays are popular with the nation’s surfers and families alike and the area magically combines the hip and trendy with absolutely stunning natural scenery. Golden sand beaches are walking distance from the hotel, with Rock beach very popular for water sports, sunbathing in the dunes or even a thrilling Sea Safari! Guests can enjoy the local area with a shopping trip to Padstow, a surfing or sailing lesson, a walk along the South West Coast Path or a round of golf on some of the top courses in the UK. Just a short drive away, guests can explore most of the top sights in Cornwall, including the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Ives, Fowey, Charlestown, National Trust properties and Tintagel Castle. What kind of breakfast do you offer? Each morning all guests are greeted with fresh Cornish coffee and Teapigs tea of their choice, alongside an excellent continental spread including freshly baked bread. Guests can then choose from the delicious menu of locally-sourced cooked delights including a full Cornish breakfast, smoked salmon, Cornish fish and French toast. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Our in-house Restaurant serves an excellent seasonal menu using the highest quality, locally-sourced produce. Lunch is served between 12-2pm in the main restaurant or out on the terrace with panoramic views across the Camel estuary. For a lighter option, Afternoon Tea can be enjoyed in the Rock Room, Lounge or on the Terrace including freshly baked cakes, scones, small sandwiches and sweet treats. From 6pm, Dinner is served in the Restaurant with excellent service in a relaxed environment. For diners looking for additional high quality dining in the local area, the Camel estuary is home to some of the most outstanding dining spots in Cornwall; with restaurants just a short taxi or ferry ride in Padstow and Port Isaac, including Rick Steins’ Seafood Restaurant, Paul Ainsworth’s No. 6 and Restaurant Nathan Outlaw; guests will be spoilt for choice in this foodie’s paradise. Which are your most popular room types, and why? Whilst all rooms at The St Enodoc all have fantastic facilities and complimentary toiletries from St Kitts Herbery in the elegant bathrooms, our most popular rooms are our Superior Double rooms which are luxuriously spacious and stylish with original artwork, super king size beds and stunning views across the Camel estuary. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? Our spacious family suites are particularly popular with all families, with separate bedrooms and twin or bunk beds available within the security of one room. Additional facilities include travel cots, additional z-beds, kitchenettes in all suites and an excellent games room. Just a stone’s throw from Rock and Polzeath beach, there are plenty of water sports and activities to keep the whole family amused, many of which come with exclusive discounts when staying at the St Enodoc. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? If you want to experience one of the most popular areas of North Cornwall without being overcrowded, this exclusive hideaway is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the best that Cornwall has to offer, with personalised recommendations and insider knowledge for those looking for Cornwall’s hidden gems.
It’s in Chelsea-on-Sea, Rock, but the atmosphere is unpretentious, the decor as breezy as a north Cornwall beach...
