“Fantastic base for exploring one of the lesser known sections of China's Great Wall. Originally a tile factory, The Brickyard has been sympathetically restored and rooms are smart and comfortable with sit out terraces for soaking up the panoramic views.”

Hotel review

With entire front side of your room constructed from glass, spending the night in the Brickyard is almost akin to sleeping in a greenhouse – but emerging from the mist in the distance is the Great Wall, the Brickyard’s raison d’etre. Everything here is built to face it: the former factory has been refitted with huge swathes of glass, and reimagined as a stunning eco-retreat. There is an organic vegetable garden, a (Wall-facing) Jacuzzi, and a spa. And it's all just a bus ride away from Beijing (the hotel can also arrange a car pick-up). After a hard hike up on the Wall itself, you’ll also be glad of their on-site Schoolhouse restaurant, which serves fantastic, fresh-tasting, homemade from scratch Western food (including unbeatable breakfasts!).
