Hotel Review
A friendly, cool buzz greets guests as they enter through the doors of The Caravan in Thessaloniki, where the reception area (made from a stack of colourful suitcases) and café – complete with pot plants and board games - are combined. Staff working here take great care to provide guests with detailed information about their home town, while The Caravan’s popular brunch is frequently written up by food bloggers. Guests who are keen to explore the foodie side of the city will enjoy staying a short walk from the recently refurbished Modiano food market and the more traditional Kapani covered market, while The Caravan is also well placed for exploring other parts of the city – from historic monuments to the vibrant seafront. Once a bank, the hotel is in an old townhouse with its 17 bedrooms stretched out across the different floors. Rooms are light and airy, each with a balcony or terrace, which overlook the eclectic mix of nearby buildings, from modern shops and restaurants to Hamza Bey, a 15th-century Ottoman Mosque.
