Hotel Review
Built in the Victorian era as two opulent private mansions the Milestone is a classic London hotel containing sumptuous public rooms. It feels like a stately home rather than a hotel being full of character, mahogany furnishings, heavy drapes, vibrant colours, a proper doorman, and full of fresh flowers and antiques. Cutting edge it is not and so guests seeking a contemporary style should stay elsewhere. The ornate and book-lined Park Lounge, with its open fireplace, is ideal for taking afternoon tea.The equine themed Stables Bar has capacious green leather seating and is a restful place for a pre-dinner drink whilst studying the menu.Good service, within a cocoon of luxury, in a traditional setting, is what The Milestone excels at. Most of the bedrooms are generous in size, and the large number of suites have magnificent views and marble bathrooms. However, time has not stood still and the Hotel has a modern and fully equipped gym, sauna, spa treatment room, and swimming pool. Ever popular with North American guests who love the four poster beds, the Milestone is a cosy and well-located choice for international guests seeking a traditional standard of service. The best rooms have views over Kensington Gardens.
