Looking for a discreet, beautifully designed luxury hotel that won’t break the bank, located a stone’s throw from some of London’s most iconic sites? Well The Pelham might just be for you! Understated elegance, sophisticated, cosy, intimate, friendly - all these adjectives and more, sum up this gem of a hotel. The charming 52 room property has been created from three stucco fronted townhouses right in the heart of the South Kensington (you’re literally steps from the tube station), and part of its allure stems from the rabbit warren-like lay out that may leave you slightly bemused. But fear not, once you enter your cocoon of luxury all confusion will be forgotten and your attention will be diverted to the classic design of the tasteful room before you. All rooms and suites are individually designed and filled with eclectic objets, antique furnishings and opulent floor to ceiling curtains. All boast supremely comfy beds, top notch Frette bed linens, Penhaligon toiletries and luxurious bathrooms. An additional welcome touch is the provision of a Handy smart phone for the duration of your stay (this gives free calls - both national and international - and free unlimited internet use). A real boon to those who are travelling from abroad and don’t want to pay heavy roaming charges. The decor throughout The Pelham is understated luxury with a real country house feel. Walls are adorned with art - both traditional and modern and the library and drawing room provide serene, comfortable spaces where you’d be happy to curl up fireside with a cup of tea or a G&T and a good book! Downstairs you’ll find La Trattoria by Alfredo Russo, where you can enjoy superb, authentic, relaxed Italian dining from a sharing plate of antipasti to wood fired pizza or roast spring chicken. The staff here are equally understated - friendly and helpful (nothing will ever be too much trouble), but they’ll never be overbearing. The Pelham is really all about providing a glorious home from home (albeit one that some of us can only aspire to) right in the centre of London. It will not disappoint and cannot be recommended highly enough.
