“A boutique hotel located in the heart of Quito, with breathtaking views of the city and surrounding volcanoes. The hotel's interior features elegant chandeliers, grand archways and a pretty courtyard terrace. Rooms are simple, with parquet flooring and charming colours. Ideal for city exploring.”

Hotel review

Perched on the edge of Quito's historical centre, this century-old heritage building has colonial charm overseen by a staff with international sensibilities.

The perk is in the name - Vista del Angel, meaning View of the Angel, referring to the dancing Madonna that gazes down on Quito from one of the city's many hillocks. Beyond are the Andes, and the snow-capped mountains, including the volcanoes Cotopaxi, Antisana and Cayambe.

Just as Quito is restructuring itself to become more international and inclusive, so too is Vista del Angel. Built in the crenelated Arabic Mudéjar style, it has the look and eminence of a castle, with marble statues and chandeliers on the sweeping staircases. Rooms have a minimalist flair, each with a sitting area and minibar. The top floor bar serves local Ecuadorian wine and spirits and the restaurant offers a select range of local fare in its boutique restaurant. It's here where the staff are at their best, accommodating and cosmopolitan, and eager to introduce to the hotel new cocktails and dishes. There is also a large interior garden for relaxing after a long day exploring the city, or having a massage in the small onsite spa. The hotel will book guests tours of the city and the surrounding countryside, and give you a warm welcome upon your return.
