Put simply Westcroft Guesthouse, in the picturesque village of Kingsand, is one of our favourite British B&Bs. Owner Sarah has created the perfect hideaway in this forgotten corner of Cornwall; the attention to detail, passion and love put into the running of this gem is a rarity and better than many boutique hotels. Think warmed coffee cups, six plump pillows on your bed, pre-stamped envelopes in your room. Everywhere you turn there are fragrant fresh flowers and the latest luxury lifestyle glossy. With the beach right on the doorstep and sea air on tap, you'll sleep like a baby whichever room you choose. There's a minimum two night stay but honestly you'll want to stay for more. Filling the whole of the first floor and overlooking the bay, there's a pretty four poster suite which comes with its own large sitting room. The romantic clocktower suite spreads across the entire top floor of the house; featuring an antique French bed and large en-suite with underfloor heating and roll top bath, it's a great choice for honeymooners. The elegant Penlee Suite is on the second floor and is decorated with works by renowned muralist Gez Taylor. Its charming en-suite bathroom boasts a claw foot bathtub and marble floor. The brass bed can be made into twins, and paired up with the suite opposite it's a great choice for families of four. During the summer months you can book all four rooms and Westcroft Guesthouse becomes your self-catering hideaway for a week. While you're here you might like to pop into Westcroft Gallery next door Sarah and Dylan's other business where they sell work by Cornish artists. If you like one of the pictures they'll put it in your room so you can live with it a while before deciding to buy it. Coffee (or tea) magically appears outside your room in the morning and papers too if you like. A hearty breakfast is served at the large round table in the dining room at whatever time suits you. Pastries galore, freshly made fruit salad, watermelon with feta cheese and poached eggs with kale and chilli are just some of the delicious options which change daily. You'll need a car though the car park is less than a five minute walk away. Live like a local and take a morning dip in the sea or grab a surf board and ride the waves. There are some great walks along the coastline to Rame Head where the views are stunning; you can either drive and then walk or walk directly from Westcroft Guesthouse's doorstep. There are plenty of dining options within walking distance (five pubs in the village itself) or excellent cafes and restaurants a short drive away, including one run by an ex River Cottage chef.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Some love to escape, you feel removed from the real world and its pressures. Some love the romance of it all, it’s what they were hoping for and more. The proximity of the sea, great walks, beaches, amazing pubs and great Cornish food.
What is there to do in the area or on site? Not a destination for shoppers! Guests choose to use the fibre optic WiFi or tech detox. Relax, books and glossy magazines fill the house, take some time out. Beach and cliff walks, wild swimming, surf lessons, pottery or art classes. Our very own contemporary Cornish art gallery next door featuring Cornish artists. Explore the number of gifted chefs who have been attracted to the Rame Peninsula by the local produce, local caught seafood and the lifestyle.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? Breakfast also comes in waves. Most of breakfast is locally grown, reared or sourced. The famous eggs come from friends' chickens who live by and see the sea. Our bacon comes from a local smallholding. Cornish vine tomatoes slow roasted to sweet perfection, spinach, kale with chilli flakes. Fresh fruit salad, cereals, porridge and fresh pastries. We deliver morning coffee or tea to your room in the morning.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We don’t offer other meals. Picnics can be arrange (with notice). We are spoilt with 5 pubs and several cafés within walking distance. The pick of the pubs is just 6 doors along the waterfront, the Devonport Inn with its French chef Jerome. Other recommendations would be to walk to The Canteen at Maker Heights or take in The View Restaurant which is the pick of the bunch for views and fish.
Which is your most popular room, and why? Tough to say. The Clock Tower Suite is our most romantic (as long as not much over 6ft tall). Open the window above your head and star gaze from your French bed. Or listen to the sea while drifting away in the roll top bath. The Four Poster Suite gives you space. Along with your beautifully designed and styled bedroom and walk in en-suite shower room, you have your own private sitting room with sea views and a vantage point for great people watching.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We do have high quality travel cots, and can accommodate children on an extra bed in two of the rooms. The Four Poster works well as you can put the child to bed and still have your sitting room to relax in.
