About Ludorf

Part of Südmüritz since 2019, Ludorf is a lovely little village on the edge of spectacular Lake Müritz. Germany’s second-largest inland lake, Müritz is an enormously popular destination, particularly during the summer months and the school holidays. The best place to stay in Ludorf, on the south-western side of the lake, is a brilliant base for outdoorsy types, who will delight in discovering the many attractions of the lake and surrounding reserve.

Set midway between Berlin and Rostock, the Müritz National Park, in southern Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, spans more than 300 kilometres, encompassing pine forests, swamps, meadows and moorland, as well as an impressive 100 lakes. Delve into the region’s rich biodiversity at the Müritzeum in Waren, or with expert-led guided tours of specific landscapes within the National Park.

You’ll find myriad hiking and cycling trails around the lakes, as well as bird-watching opportunities aplenty. Spot black storks, ospreys, white-tailed eagles and cranes, or look out for red deer, blue moor frogs and more. Boat trips on Lake Müritz or the surrounding waterways come highly recommended, as do sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding adventures. Return to the best place to stay in Ludorf to soak up the sunshine in gorgeous landscaped gardens before tucking into flavoursome regional fare in a striking setting.
