There are so many islands and cays in the Bahamas that there really is a Caribbean paradise to suit every taste, whether you favour spectacular ocean sunsets; coral coves you can explore underwater; dramatic rocky cliffs wound through with tales of shipwrecks; implausibly perfect beaches; or bright lights and fun. To go with the variety of lifestyle and landscapes, the Bahamas also has a huge number of hotels and resorts. But picking the best hotel in a choice of paradise locations is what the Hotel Gurus are really great at, so we asked them to pool their Caribbean knowledge and make recommendations for the best luxury hotels in the Bahamas. We wanted a mix of landscapes and holiday types, as well as luxury hotel picks for families and couples. And we think their resulting selection really does offer something to suit every kind of luxury traveller. Have a browse and get planning!
For Luxury for Two

- Converted from an historic Dunmore Town property, Bahama House has just eleven spacious rooms and suites, with plantation-style decor and large private terraces — there’s also a couple of private cottages if you want more privacy. The pool and grown-up rum bar are the other features guests write home about.
For Barefoot Luxury

- The Other Side is the most glamorous glamp site in the Caribbean, a collection of just six permanent tents, with hardwood flooring and beautiful canvas canopies. The tents house Berber rugs, four-poster beds and vintage record players, and have huge verandas overlooking a palm-fringed ocean. There’s an indulgent and stylish bar and restaurant too.
- Kamalame Cay is a private island resort, set on a hundred acres of beach-side paradise. There are just 20 elegant villas and cottages, all have airy domed ceilings, huge verandas and bathrooms, and lots of windows. There’s a pool, spa and tennis courts, two beach bars and a glass bottom boat too. Heaven!
For Luxury for the Whole Family

- Just seven villas make up the Sky Beach Club. They’re so close to the beach that they’re just a step down off the terrace onto the sand, and the infinity pool looks as if its water is falling into the palm-dotted dunes. The villas are huge — with all the facilities you have at home, or more — but there’s a popular seafood restaurant on the premises too, if you don’t want to self-cater. Luxurious and glamorous and perfect for family groups.
- Pink Sands is a small, but perfectly formed beach resort right against the sands of Pink Sands Beach. There are just 25 rooms and suites, some suitable for families, all set in 16 acres of tropical, scented gardens which lead out onto the beach. Inside there’s lots of space, and elegant furnishings, and outside there’s lots of space and private decks, a pool and tennis courts. Plus the hotel can arrange a long list of watersports and activities, so there's something for all ages here.
- A short stroll from French Leave Beach, the French Leave Resort is a collection of villas — ranging in size from one bedroom to four-bedrooms plus private pool. Each villa is carefully designed and decorated with a chic, contemporary eye, taking into account the best places to watch the sunsets etc. There’s an infinity pool and a sea-view restaurant, and it’s all surrounded by lush gardens. Book one of the larger options if you're travelling with kids in tow.
For Luxurious Style

- The Island House is a sophisticated resort with an Eastern aesthetic, located just outside bustling Nassau. It’s a great choice if you want to see the sights, but also want to retreat to a cocoon of calm afterwards. There are lush tropical gardens, furnishings in warm wood and bamboo, and a really enviable spa and fitness centre.
For Luxurious Facilities

- The Ocean Club is a luxurious Four Seasons resort idyllically located in a paradise of landscaped grounds right against the beach. Accommodation is in a range of rooms, suites and villas, and all are immaculately turned out in the epitome of Bahamian style, with hardwood features, huge windows and private balconies. And as you'd imagine with a Four Seasons the array of facilities is seriously impressive from professional tennis coaching to pampering spa, golf course, three pools, fitness centre, complimentary yoga classes, complimentary kids club and three dining experiences.
For Never-Leave-the-Resort Luxury

- SLS Baha Mar is a glossy luxury resort with all the trimmings! There’s a beach club, casino, 11 restaurants, an art gallery, cinema, a huge spa and gym, tennis courts, watersports facilities, yoga art classes, a golf course… and more. To have this amount of choice you need scale, and SLS Baha Mar is big, with 300+ rooms, suites and villas — which means there’s a configuration to suit everyone.
For a Luxury Escape

- Bahamian stalwart, The Dunmore, offers its own brand of beach-side Caribbean luxury to those who stay in its 19 rooms and suites. Right on beautiful Pink Sands Beach, with an inviting pool, superb, unfussy restaurant and friendly service, this is the sort of place where life slows down, and there’s time to discover pristine coral on snorkelling expeditions, and to sip cocktails at sunset.
For Great Value Luxury

- Coral Sands is a picturesque beachfront hotel set on nine palm-filled acres close to Dunmore Town on Harbour Island. The 39 rooms and suites are spacious and elegant, and many have huge ocean-view terraces looking out over the hotel’s three miles of white sand. There’s a pool, library and billiards room, plus watersports facilities, a superb French-Bahamian restaurant and a laid-back bar.
