The 1st Arrondissement may be one of the smallest areas of central Paris, but it's the most perfectly placed for a short city break. It's within spitting distance of all the major sights, from the Louvre, so big it takes up a significant section of the Arrondissement, to the shadowy collonades of the Palais Royal. It's also an unbelievably stylish, luxury location, from the upscale establishments of Place Vendôme to the designer shops and effortlessly stylish bistros lining the streets. There are theatres, and beautiful gardens like those of Jardin des Tuileries to explore — and so much more. No wonder so many of the best hotels in the 1st Arrondissement are luxury stays and five-star stunners.
