Dorset may have a fine coastline with plenty of beaches but not everyone wants to take a dip in the sea. Fortunately, we’ve found a range of Dorset hotels with swimming pools, both indoor and outdoor. Some of these are by the coast while others are inland. Most of our Dorset hotels with pools also offer a spa which makes them the perfect choice for both families or for couples wanting a relaxing, indulgent break.
Family Friendly hotels with pool
- Overlooking Chesil Beach, Moonfleet Manor, a former stately home, offers the best of both worlds. As well as being close to the sea and beaches, it boasts a beautiful indoor pool. There’s an Elemis spa, too, while vast airy bedrooms are a mix of traditional and contemporary styling. This is heaven for families with its huge variety of onsite activities for the little ones and grown-up treats too.
Hotels on the coast

If you’re looking for somewhere that offers the buzz of a town as well as the open spaces of the coast, there are two hotels in Christchurch worth considering.
- Christchurch Harbour Hotel & Spa sits right on the harbour and has recently been modernised to create a contemporary-style seaside hotel. Bedrooms are chic affairs while there’s an indoor pool, plus spa, gym and a choice of dining options.
- Just outside Christchurch, on the banks of the River Stour, the modern Captain’s Club Hotel has a yachty feel – lots of white and blue, timber cladding and porthole windows – and a club-like atmosphere. Several of the rooms are apartment-style with small kitchens while the spa includes a hydrotherapy pool.
Country hotels with pools

- The big attraction of the handsome Edwardian Little Court is its beautiful walled garden – noted by Gertrude Jekyll – with both a heated seasonal outdoor pool and a tennis court. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day spent exploring the surrounding countryside. Rooms are comfortably traditional, dotted with antiques, and some with four-poster beds. It’s breakfast-only but there’s an excellent pub within walking distance.
- If you’re looking for a country-house hotel in Dorset, Summer Lodge ticks all the boxes. With beautiful lawns, and a tennis court outside, and handsome rooms with traditional style, it sits in the bucolic village of Evershot. Its luxurious Elemis spa includes a heated pool as well as a range of indulgent treatments.
