On an island with few beaches, Bratsera is one of the very few hotels with a pool. And it's no small splash pool either! It's big enough to swim laps, and there's plenty of space to lounge in sun or shade. But there's more to this gorgeous hotel than its poolside. Rooms and suites in a low-rise stone building that exudes industrial chic (it was once a sponge factory) surround the pool and a courtyard fragrant with jasmine and jacaranda blossom. Throughout, wood and stone are the keynote materials. Floors are polished wood or tiles, softened by coir matting. Some rooms have bathtubs as well as showers. Superior rooms have balconies, while junior suites have terraces. Buffet breakfast, continental style with Greek additions like bougatsa (custard pastry) and other goodies including omelettes cooked to order, is served on the pool terrace. There's a la carte lunch and modern-Medterranean dinner menu too, complementing the array of restaurants nearby.

Hydra’s largest four-star, family-friendly hotel occupies a former sponge-processing factory dating from 1860. A recent refit has kept that fourth star burnished. It has a beautiful courtyard swimming pool, industrial chic interiors and good breakfasts.
