After an extensive, two-year renovation, this charming château is welcoming guests for a luxury country escape. Set in a former silk merchant's estate with twelve acres of verdant grounds, the hotel now boasts contemporary suites, a gourmet restaurant and outdoor swimming pool. With a great location in Gard, the hotel also makes the perfect base for local exploring in Provence. The loving restoration of the property allows many of the best heritage details to shine through. In the lobby, a sweeping staircase takes centre stage, flanked by hand-selected antiques and framed by frescoed ceilings. In the guestrooms, clean lines hint at the work of Swiss interior designer Iria Degen. Silk panels above the bed recall the property's heritage and perfectly complement the suites' high ceilings. Larger suites and La Maison - the gatehouse - offer guests self-contained living space, a sit-out terrace and self-catering facilities, perfect for a group or family stay. Children are welcomed at the hotel and there is lots to keep them entertained, from the big outdoor pool to the tennis courts and even a ping-pong table. At the hotel's gourmet restaurant there is a children's menu and Sunday brunch in the park is designed with kids in mind. Who hasn’t dreamed of owning a chateau in picturesque Provence? Silk merchant Alexandre Eugène Collain always did, and in 1848, having amassed a small fortune, he bought 12 acres of farmland and turned his fantasy into reality.
