Hotel review

Situated in the South Western corner of Antigua, Curtain Bluff occupies a prime position on a small peninsula which ensures that it can boast two beaches (one very sheltered and ideal for families, small children and watersports, the other more exposed - Surf Beach). All rooms and suites have views directly onto Surf Beach through floor to ceiling windows and from your private terrace or balcony. We'd recommend you book one on the ground floor for direct beach access. The accommodation is spacious and rooms are decorated in traditional caribbean style with rattan furnishings and a neutral palette accented with blues and greens to mirror the ocean beyond, enormous, super-comfy beds and vast marble bathrooms where you'll find complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. The food at Curtain Bluff is another thing that they can justifiably brag about - quite simply it is superb. None of your usual resort fare here. Breakfasts are freshly cooked to order, lunches a vast array of goodies to choose from at the Sea Grape Restaurant from rare steak to traditional Caribbean dishes, and dinner is an a la carte feast (there are five courses to be had if you're feeling really indulgent) with daily changing menu and standards you'd expect in a classy fine-dining restaurant. Curtain Bluff ticks all the right boxes for a Caribbean escape - they offer a range of complimentary watersports and daily reef trips if snorkelling is your thing; there are four tennis courts, squash court, kids club and spa. They really have thought of everything! And when they describe it as all inclusive - that's exactly what they mean; no wallets are necessary unless you want to book a spa treatment or indulge in vintage wines or Cuban cigars. The staff are a joy - helpful, smiley and eager to satisfy the slightest whim. Plus they'll indulge you with little extras - a regular supply of iced water (or cocktails) delivered to your lounger on the beach or perhaps a spoonful of refreshing melon to keep you going till lunch! Best of all is the atmosphere. It's a bit like attending a house party (albeit a rather large one); laid back, understated, in short a joy! It's a place you'll never get tired of and will want to return to again and again!
