Hotel Review
Perched high on a Kimberly plateau overlooking the magnificent Chamberlain River, this is a luxurious oasis in the midst of El Questro Wilderness Park, a 1 000 000 acre area with an astonishing landscape including rugged sandstone ranges, broad tidal flats, rainforest pockets, gorges and waterfalls. The place is exclusive, with nine beautiful suites set in tropical gardens each with air conditioning, a private veranda and panoramic views of the river. Our favourites are the Cliff Side Retreats, offering the most dramatic settings on the edge of the escarpment, from where if you’re lucky you might spot freshwater crocodiles sunbathing beneath you! Plus they have high stone garden walls ensuring total peace and privacy, making it perfect for a romantic getaway. There’s a tennis court and swimming pool too, although don’t miss out on a trip to one of the glorious freshwater swimming holes nearby – the Miri Miri Waterfall is only reachable by helicopter, and should not be missed. There’s no spa, because nature always does things best, and guests have exclusive access to the Zebedee Thermal Springs, a series of natural thermal pools and small waterfalls a short trip away in the tropical vegetation. A highlight is al fresco dining under the stars. The best possible combination of luxury in a wild landscape.
