Hotel Review

The rich plains of the south face of Cotopaxi were home to a range of haciendas during colonial times due to the arable land, a by-product of the region's micro-climate. Hacienda Hato Verde is located on one such hacienda; beautifully restored to preserve many of the property's original features, the hacienda now hosts a boutique hotel with a range of packages to assist your local explorations. Guestrooms are located in the main house and are decorated in keeping with the colonial-era property; expect traditional tiled floors, exposed beams and partially exposed stone walls, as well as verdant country views. Superior rooms offer the added luxury of a private balcony with vistas over the plains. Downstairs there is a cosy living room decorated with local artwork and homely Andean textiles. The house also comprises a dining room where guests can book a fine dining experience with traditional Ecuadorian cuisine. The main attraction close to the hotel is Cotopaxi Volcano, which can be seen from the hotel's plush gardens; guests can book a package to visit the volcano through the hotel. Trekking activities are also available, in addition to tours of nearby mountain lakes. If you prefer to explore independently, take a drive to the nearby artisan and craft fairs in Saquisilí, Latacunga or Pujili, where you can find beautiful examples of the Andean textile tradition. A charming boutique hotel, well-located for local exploring.
