Hotel Review
For a quieter get away in Jaisalmer, the Hamari Haveli is one to consider. This two bedroomed town house is run by the Hotel Killa Bawan cousins, and has all the character and style of that amazing eyrie high up in the fort. The property is cleverly designed for two couples, or a family — or even for a writer seeking the surroundings of Jaisalmer without the distractions. It is set in a quiet neighbourhood looking out onto an intimate square with a ruminating cow and a couple of grannies exchanging memories under a neem tree. It is an old, traditional Haveli with a narrow inner courtyard open to the sky separating the two bedrooms upstairs and the dining room and sitting room downstairs. There is also an ample, well equipped kitchen for self catering, or for the friendly staff who can easily cater for you. At the very top of the Haveli is a good private space on the roof terrace with seating and low tables. Throughout it is decorated with care and style, and it quickly becomes home to welcome you back from a foray in lively Jaisalmer. It is a quiet and comfortable retreat in the middle of this rich and wonderful city.
