This opulent, heritage hotel was once known as the most luxurious hotel in Spain. It is not hard to imagine why; entering the doors of the magnificent, Moorish-inspired property feels something like entering a royal palace. Designed at the behest of King Alfonso XIII for visitors to the Spanish Royal Expo in 1929, the custom-designed hotel retains many of its original features, updated with the latest technology for the 21st-century traveller. Guest suites are generously sized and contemporary, with hints of Arabesque design in detailed corniches, geometric patterns and azulejos or intricate wall tiles. The palette is a warm blend of earthy hues, lots of cappuccino and soft green. In the most elegant suites, cool tiles underfoot are a welcome relief in Seville's hot summer weather. The hotel layout draws on the architecture of many Moorish buildings in this part of Spain, with colonnades separating reception rooms and an interior terrace with a garden. Head to the second floor for the hotel's charming restaurant, Ena, headed by Catalan chef Carles Abellan. When the heat finally gets the better of you, retreat to the chic outdoor pool - with a cocktail from the poolside bar, of course.

This magnificent landmark hotel framed by palm trees is a much-loved piece of Seville’s history. With lamps bearing crowns and regal beds, you could say it's fit for a king or queen. It's also one of only two five-star Gran Lujo hotels in the city, and offers on-site cooking courses and wine tastings.
