After years running the kitchen at a two-star Michelin restaurant in the French spa town of Uriage-les-Bains, chef Christophe Aribert snapped up an old chalet nearby, thoroughly restored it, and opened an innovative new restaurant and hotel. Eco-friendly Maison Aribert has just five sleek and luminous suites, all furnished with one-of-a-kind antiques, luxurious Hästens beds, original artwork, separate living and sleeping areas, and private terraces overlooking the wooded surroundings. A well-stocked library offers additional lounge space, while a dedicated tea room is an ideal place to digest a dégustation from the restaurant downstairs, where menus are built around seasonal local products like fresh trout, guinea fowl, Voreppe mushrooms, and Grenoble walnuts. Needless to say, breakfast is a gourmet affair at the chandelier-lit café on the ground level, also open to the public. Outside the front door, a natural playground of waterfalls, caves, hiking trails, ski slopes, and thermal baths await.
