Guests can explore the hectare of gardens created around the manor house and enjoy the fresh produce from our own potager. An international mix of guests leads to an interesting exchange of views over a glass of wine. Many guests enjoy staying for the convenience and pleasure of eating dinner at Kerledan and meeting other travellers and exchanging conversation. They see it as a relaxing part of their holiday. What is there to do in the area? We are bang in the middle of Brittany, with the north, west and south coasts only 1 hour away and situated on one of the many voie vertes which criss cross Brittany. People love to come who wish to use us as a base to explore the many delights of Brittany, from the country walks, cycling routes, local canal and the wildness of the Monts d'Arrée (National Park) to the ancient abbeys, chateaux and 'jardins remarkable' nearby. During the 4 months of summer there are a fascinating and diverse programme of exhibitions, music festivals (celtic, world, techno, classical, blues the list is endless) and art exhibitions close by to discover. Fez Noz is the name in Breton for local evening parties of breton dance and music, a chance to get a real flavour of this unique region. The new project in central Brittany is 'The Valley of the Saints'. An ambitious project to sculpt a 1000 stone images of the Breton Saints, so far around 60 of the 3-4m sculptures have been completed. An impressive sight to be found just 15 minutes north of Kerledan. What kind of breakfast do you offer? We serve a buffet breakfast with a choice of granola, cereal, jams and yoghurt, all of which are organic and homemade, plus a choice of local cheese, ham and breads and fresh croissants. Also, fresh fruit compote from the garden and sometimes a tart or gateau is served. We are happy to cater for any special dietary requirements. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? On reservation only, we serve a fixed menu dinner of 2 or 3 courses with an aperitif and coffee/tisane included in the price. The menu changes daily and follows the seasons, very much dependant on what is fresh and good at the time in the garden. Freshness and local sourcing are our bywords for creating our meals, and of course, we do take into consideration people's problems with allergies and major dislikes. A mediterranean style menu predominates with a hint of spices from the middle east. We have several good local creperies and bistro's that we can recommend only a 15 minute walk away. Which are your most popular room types, and why? The 3 rooms on the first floor overlooking the front courtyard with box parterres and pleached lime trees and the evening sun streaming in through the old stone mullion windows tend to be the most popular. The king sized beds with sumptuous white linen provide an indulgent start to the day. Rooms are individually decorated with natural lime plastered walls, slate or travertine floored shower/bathrooms and brocante finds. Curtains are interlined to keep out the summer light or make the rooms cosy on an autumn's evening. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? We have a baby's cot and highchair available and 2 extra beds are in the larger 'Coatgourdan' room, which are normally made up as daybeds/sofa's.
