Oltrarno is where in-the-know visitors to Florence stay; located across the river, off the beaten track for tourists, here heritage townhouses rub up against functioning artisan workshops, antique shops and family-run restaurants. Oltrarno Splendid slots in perfectly in this cultured sector, with beautifully restored heritage details and contemporary, boutique design. Brought to you by the hoteliers who rose to fame for AdAstra and SoprArno, this hotel's individually styled rooms are generously sized and unique. Many feature original frescoes, terracotta floors and a classic, ceramic bathtub. These heritage details are contrasted with a splash of colour and contemporary design pieces, and there are great city views, too. Though there is no restaurant, the hotel offers a good buffet breakfast in the top-floor breakfast room. The hotel's location makes it the perfect base for local sightseeing, with the majority of the main attractions in Florence a short stroll away; the Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery are within easy reach, less than ten minutes' walk away.
