“An exquisite, 16th-century palace is the setting for this boutique hotel in Valletta. Guestrooms are elegant, with plush Persian carpets and antique-style furnishings in a regal palette; book a luxury suite for a private terrace hot tub. Dine at gourmet restaurant Patakka; a refined hotel.”

Hotel review

Valletta is the pocket-sized capital of Malta; the historic walled city was founded in the 1500s and boasts a melting-pot of influences from the Mediterranean and Arab world. This boutique hotel offers a unique insight into the culture and history of the island, since it was formerly the residence of the leader of the Knights of St. John, the Catholic order which established the city. Having undergone a complete renovation, the baroque, 16th-century palace now offers elegant guestrooms, a rooftop swimming pool, wine cellar and restaurant. The property's heritage features are complemented by antique-style furniture in the stately suites, some of which feature split-level living space with a chic spiral staircase. Several suites also offer a balcony with beautiful city views, and the most indulgent includes a private terrace with a hot tub facing the sea. The hotel's main amenities - the rooftop pool and gourmet restaurant - are real highlights; the swimming pool offers 180-degree views over the city and the sea, with sun loungers, day beds and a bar, a perfect recipe for relaxation. The hotel restaurant, Patakka, caters breakfast, lunch and dinner, with an à la carte menu that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. Run by the owners of the celebrated award-winning L’Artiglio Ristorante, the menu is causing waves is the local fine dining scene. A stylish boutique stay with a cultured edge.

Palais Le Brun

This traditional-style boutique hotel, in a converted 16th-century palazzo rich in Maltese history, sits almost at the tip of the Valletta peninsula. The roof terrace and plunge pool offer 180-degree views while the cellar houses a little gym and the hotel’s excellent restaurant.
