Set high on the Cerro del Emperador, the Parador de Toledo commands spectacular views towards the walled city of Toledo with its Gothic Cathedral, monasteries, churches, synagogues, museums and palaces. Cool down in the pool, have dinner on the terrace, relax in your bedroom, the view is ever present. The style is country house with wooden beams and wide cool corridors with solid Spanish antiques dotted along the way. Rooms are generous and unfussy with excellent bathrooms. The traditional restaurant is good without being a gastronomic feast, in fact just what you want after a busy day's sightseeing. Unfussy luxury, everything works and the view is to die for.
