Hotel Review
Once upon a time the Peacock at Rowsley was the Dower house for Haddon Hall, stately home of the Dukes of Rutland. Rutland family pictures and furniture are mixed up with contemporary pieces, creating a stylish and contemporary feel in this historic country inn. Equally popular both with Hollywood stars (filming costume dramas at Chatsworth and Haddon Hall), walkers, fishermen and even those who just want a really comfy, relaxing break with delicious food, good service and wonderful surroundings. Fly-fishing is offered on the Haddon Hall estate with some of the finest trout fishing on the river Wye & Derwent. Bedrooms are pretty and stylish some with four poster beds. Staff are friendly and most obliging, if guests want dinner on a tray in their rooms in front of the TV then that’s fine. Log fires in winter and beautiful flowers all the year round. Mouth-watering food in the 3 AA rosette restaurant with a full 7 course seasonal tasting menu. Stay a few days and you won’t want to leave.

Why I love The Peak District. By Fiona Duncan.
Between Manchester and Sheffield, it’s full of contrasts, from the Dark Peak's high exposed moorlands and dramatic gritstone edges to the White Peak’s gentler plateaus, limestone dales and rivers."
